Internet connection directly from Gear2 Web App

Is it possible to connect directly from a Web App on Gear 2 to the internet without corresponding Android App on the mobile phone?

It is said that SDK supports XMLHttpRequest Level 2. But I have been experiencing with ajax calls and ti does not seem to work.

Gear can be used as a bluetooth remote control for an Internet of Things system like this one for instance: http://thethingsystem.com/

The UI is HTML5, a perfect match for the Gear ;)

It's impossible. You can only use bluetooth and SAP.
